About Me & My Website

There’s a lot of information out there about blogging. It can be difficult to sort through the many “I made $10k in a week and you can too!” posts and other sales-pitchy nonsense meant to squeeze aspiring bloggers of money for investing in their dream of being a blogger.

It sucks. I’m tired of it.

The Blog Dept was originally about helping bloggers without graphic design experience through plug n’play pre-designed templates for their social media promotion. It didn’t take me long to realize that the blogging community needs so much more than that.

Yes, I’m saying it needs a hero.

I started off just like you. Well, that’s assuming you got your start with MySpace. *Cringes* I know, right? Scary. But my humble beginnings otherwise aren’t all that different from what yours may be. I didn’t know how to use Twitter, and Pinterest definitely was not a thing.

The Blog Dept was born out of an intense love for blogging, business, working from home, and everyone’s favorite… making money! I wanted a blog and a shop that could encompass everything I love about business. For the first time ever, I’ve combined all of my talents into one big website and I’m so excited to share it with other bloggers and entrepreneurs like you.

In addition to my wealth of growing tips, tricks, and tools you will find in my blog, I have something extra special just for people like you! Every week, I offer an actionable blogging tip… and I even deliver it to your email where you can read it and put it to use at your leisure.

My Non-Biz Life

I’m one of those full-fledged adult things or so I think I am now that I am 31 years old, have a mortgage and 4 stupid cats. That’s totes adulting, right? Wait… do the kids even say ‘totes’ any more? Crap.

I live in the Charleston, South Carolina area with my soulmate (I don’t care how cheesy that sounds) Jeremy, and the 4 aforementioned cats – Bruce, Oliver, Harley, and Thea. Yes, they are basically our children. No, I’m not ashamed of that at all.
